The published price Swindon doesn't have
Swindon has plenty of web designers. As far as I can find, none of them put their price on their website. Mine is on every page: £30 a month, everything included - design, hosting, email, and every change you ask for. And before you pay a penny, I build your website and show it to you.
First Ideas is a one-person studio twenty minutes south of town in Ogbourne St George. I've been building for the web for more than 20 years, the work's all in the gallery to browse, and the Google rating is 5.0.
Here's the order things happen in, because it's unusual:
Nothing else needed - no brief, no meeting, no deposit.
of your new website using what's already public about your business, and send you the link.
If it's right, we finish it properly together and it goes live. If it isn't, it costs you nothing.
I'd rather show you than pitch you. The preview takes the risk out of it for you and the awkward sales conversation out of it for both of us.
£30 a month or £300 a year. That includes bespoke design (no templates), every page your business needs, custom forms, photo galleries, maps and menus, UK hosting, email at your own domain, your domain name, SSL, daily backups and security updates - and the changes, forever. New prices, new photos, new staff member: email it in, it gets done. Full breakdown on the pay monthly page.
What it doesn't include is an online shop. If you're selling products, that's a different kind of build, which I quote fixed and in writing - ecommerce is a big part of my project work.
A lot of Swindon's economy is trades and small firms - electricians, plumbers, landscapers, recruiters, garages, cleaners, training providers. That's exactly who the £30 plan is built for: businesses that need a proper website that brings the phone calls in, not a project with a four-figure invoice. Recent work includes a landscaper, a glazing company, a log supplier and a caravan dealer, alongside bigger builds like a healthcare platform and a town directory with 1,100+ listings.
Some designers will tell you to avoid monthly websites because "you stop paying, you lose the site". It's a fair warning about part of this market - some pay-monthly firms tie you in for 24 months with setup fees on top. So here's my version, plainly:
The reason it's monthly isn't lock-in - it's that a website isn't a one-off purchase. It needs hosting, security, backups and changes for as long as your business exists, and I'd rather charge one honest number for all of it than a build fee plus a maintenance plan plus an hourly rate.
Me, Gordon, start to finish. I scope it, design it, build it and look after it. One person means your 2pm request isn't in a ticket queue behind an agency's bigger clients.

Project quotes locally are typically given on enquiry rather than published. Nationally, a built-for-you small business site runs £800–£3,000 upfront plus running costs. Mine is £30 a month, all-in, published, with the website shown to you first.
I'll rebuild it as part of the plan - most of my previews are redesigns of existing sites. See website redesign.
Yes, as a quoted project rather than the £30 plan - proper WooCommerce and custom ecommerce builds.
Your domain and content, yes, always - and they go with you if you ever leave.
Yes - I'm in Swindon often enough, and you're welcome out to the village.
Quick - it's built from what's already public about you, so it's usually with you sooner than you'd expect.
That's genuinely all I need to build your free preview.
